It's almost Valentine's Day, and if you're like more singles, you're probably avoiding your IG feed like the plague. Most people don't want a reminder of how single they are, so they hide out in their homes, waiting for the day to pass.
But you don't need to ghost Valentine's Day to survive it. You don't need a partner to feel happy and fulfilled. There are millions of people who live every moment to the fullest without a boo. Here are a few suggestions for how you can make Valentine's Day turn up.
1. Start a new tradition
Create a tradition with those who are closest to you. You don't need an entourage to make the most of your day, and you certainly don't need a partner to make you more thankful for another year: order Postmates and binge watch episodes of your favorite show.
2. Get Lit
Throw a party with your day ones and get lit. Valentine's Day is supposed to be shared with the ones you love. A romantic partner is not required to make the most of your day, and it certainly is not needed to have a great time.
3. Don't stay home
Take a road trip. Nothing says, "I hate Valentine's Day" like forgetting the day altogether. Forego traditional festivities by taking a weekend trip to the spa or spending the afternoon at the beach. Ignore the reminders of what is "missing" and instead, celebrate you.
4. Take yourself out
Who said you needed a party of two to have a dinner date? Tables for one will be easier to come by, but if dinner isn't your speed, try a bar! You will have more fun commiserating with other singles who loathe the day just as much as you do.
